Composition:  Folic acid……………………………………………………………5mg


Indications:
•  Various causes of folic acid deficiency and megaloblastic anemia caused by folic acid deficiency
•  Preventive medication for pregnant and lactating women
•  Folic acid deficiency caused by chronic hemolytic anemia


Dosage:
•  Adults: 5-10mg (1-2 tablets) or 15-30mg (3-6 tablets) once daily, until blood count returns to normal.
•  Children: 5mg (1 tablet) per dose, 3 times daily, until blood count returns to normal.
•  Pregnant women for the prevention of neural tube defects (spina bifida): 5mg once a day while planning pregnancy and three months after pregnancy.


Contraindications:
•  Patients who are allergic to this product.
•  Megaloblastic anemia caused by vitamin B12 deficiency cannot be treated with folic acid alone.


Warning:
•  Oral administration of large doses of folic acid can affect the absorption of zinc.
•  High doses of folic acid can antagonize the anti-epileptic effects of phenobarbital, phenytoin sodium, and propafenone.
•  Nutritional megaloblastic anemia often accompanies iron deficiency, and iron, protein, and other B vitamins should be supplemented simultaneously.


Adverse Effects:
•  Adverse reactions are rare. Long term use can cause gastrointestinal symptoms such as anorexia, nausea, and bloating. Large doses of folic acid may darken urine
