Composition:
Each tablet contains:
Metformin Hydrochloride ………………………………………..500mg.


Indications:
• The first line medication used to treat type-2 diabetes particularly in overweight people.


Dosage:
• 500mg 2 or 3 times daily taken with food.


Contraindications:
• Renal dysfunction.
• Congestive cardiac failure needing drug treatment.
• Hypersensitivity to metformin.
• Acute or chronic metabolic acidosis.
• Impaired hepatic function.


Warnings:
• Use with caution in patients with congestive heart failure, fever, trauma, surgery, the elderly, renal impairment or hepatic impairment.
• Instruct patients to avoid alcohol
• Suspend treatment prior to any type of surgery.


Adverse effects:
Mild side effects may include:
• Stomach problems, diarrhea, nausea, stomach pain, heartburn, gas.
Serious side effects may include:
• Lactic acidosis. Symptoms can include; tiredness, weakness, unusual muscle pain, trouble breathing, unusual sleepiness, stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, dizziness or lightheadedness, slow or irregular heartbeat.
• Symptoms may include; headache, weakness, confusion, shaking or feeling jittery, drowsiness, dizziness, irritability, sweating, hunger, fast heart rate.
• Low vitamin B12 levels. Symptoms may include: low energy, muscle weakness, loss of appetite, tingling or numbness in the hands and feet.


Dosage form:  White tablet


Expiry date:  18 months from the date of manufacture.


Packaging:
• 2 blister packs, 10 tablets per blister pack.
• 50 blister packs, 10 tablets per blister pack.


Storage:
• Store in the original packaging.
• Store under 25ᵒC, protected from moisture and direct sunlight.
• Keep out of reach of children.
