Composition:

Tirzepatide                                                5mg/0.5ml

Indications:

  • Type 2 diabetes.
  • long-term weight management.
  • obstructive sleep apnea.

 

Dosage:

  • The recommended starting dose of this product is 5 mg, administered subcutaneously once weekly. The 5 mg dose is intended for initial treatment. After four weeks of treatment, the dose is recommended to be increased to 7.5 mg, administered subcutaneously once weekly. If further improvement in glycemic control or weight management is required, the dose is recommended to be increased in 2.5 mg increments after at least four weeks of treatment at the current dose.
  • For type 2 diabetes and long-term weight management, the recommended maintenance dose is 5 mg, 10 mg, or 15 mg, administered subcutaneously once weekly.
  • For obstructive sleep apnea, the recommended maintenance dose is 10 mg or 15 mg, administered subcutaneously once weekly.

 

Contraindications:

  • This product is contraindicated in patients with a personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC).
  • This product is contraindicated in patients with multiple endocrine neoplasia type 2 (MEN2).
  • This product is contraindicated in patients with a hypersensitivity reaction to tirzepatide or any of the ingredients in the formulation.
  • This product is not suitable for patients with type 1 diabetes.

 

Warning:

  • Animal studies have shown that tebuconazole can cause thyroid C-cell tumors in rats, but the risk to humans is unknown.
  • Neck lumps, hoarseness, or difficulty swallowing or breathing should prompt medical attention.
  • Persistent, severe abdominal pain (which may radiate to the back) during treatment may indicate acute pancreatitis and warrants immediate discontinuation of the drug and medical attention.
  • The risk of hypoglycemia is significantly increased when used with insulin or sulfonylureas.
  • Dehydration caused by severe vomiting or diarrhea may induce kidney damage, and patients with renal impairment should be monitored closely.
  • Severe allergic reactions (such as angioedema and difficulty breathing) may occur, requiring permanent discontinuation of the drug and emergency treatment.
  • A rapid decrease in blood sugar may exacerbate retinopathy; patients with a history of these conditions should undergo regular ophthalmologic examinations.
  • Cases of gallstones and cholecystitis have been reported in clinical trials. Epigastric pain and fever should be investigated.

 

Adverse Effects:

  • The most common side effects include: nausea, diarrhea, decreased appetite, vomiting, constipation, indigestion, stomach (abdominal) pain.
  • inflammation of your pancreas (pancreatitis).
  • low blood sugar (hypoglycemia). Signs and symptoms may include: dizziness or light-headedness, blurred vision, anxiety, irritability, or mood changes, sweating, slurred speech, hunger, confusion or drowsiness, shakiness, weakness, headache, fast heartbeat, feeling jittery.
  • Severe allergic reactions. Signs and symptoms may include: swelling of your face, lips, tongue or throat problems breathing or swallowing, severe rash or itching, fainting or feeling dizzy, very rapid heartbeat.
  • severe stomach problems. Signs and symptoms may include: nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, and constipation.
  • kidney problems (kidney failure).
  • changes in vision.
  • gallbladder problems. Signs and symptoms may include: pain in your upper stomach (abdomen), fever, yellowing of skin or eyes (jaundice), clay-colored stools.

 

Dosage form: Prefilled pens (single-dose pens).

Expiry date: 24 months from the date of manufacture.
